Cookie Policy
Last updated: 2026-09-29 · Effective Date: September 2026
1. What are cookies?
Cookies (and similar storage like localStorage) are small pieces of data your browser stores on your device. BrowserTools sets no cookies of its own. It stores three things locally, none of which ever leaves your device: your theme choice, the tools you have starred, and — if you use the Online Notepad — the text and filename you type into it, saved as you type so nothing is lost. No advertising cookies are set today, because no advertisements are being served and no ad code is loaded. Google AdSense cookies will appear only once ad serving is enabled. Cloudflare Web Analytics, which measures how fast this site runs, is cookieless and sets no cookies; see the Privacy Policy for what it does record.
2. What we store on your device (no consent needed)
- Theme preference: remembers dark/light choice in
localStorage. Stays on your device, never sent to a server. Deleting site data clears it. - Your favourites: the tools you have starred, kept in
localStorageso the list is still there next visit. Never sent anywhere. - Online Notepad contents: the notepad writes your text and filename to
localStorageas you type, so closing the tab does not lose your work. It never leaves your device. On a shared or public computer, clear it when you are done — the notepad has a clear control, or you can delete site data.
No login or advertising cookies are set by BrowserTools itself, and we never sell or share your data. Nothing here is used for advertising, and blocking any of it leaves every tool working exactly the same.
3. Advertising cookies (Google AdSense)
To keep all tools free, pages that show ads may have cookies set by Google and its partners (including the DoubleClick DART cookie) to measure ad performance and, where allowed by your settings, personalise ads based on prior visits to this and other sites.
- Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and partners to serve relevant ads. See How Google uses information from partner sites.
- You can opt out of personalised ads at Google Ads Settings, or via aboutads.info and youronlinechoices.com.
4. Consent and browser controls
No advertising cookies are set today, because no ads are served. If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, a consent message operated by Google — not by us — will appear before any advertising cookie is set once ad serving is enabled, and ads will be served only to those who choose. You can change your answer at any time through the Google Ads Settings privacy controls page.
Advertising cookies are set by Google and its partners when ads load. Depending on your region and settings, Google may serve personalised or non-personalised ads. You can block, delete, or allow cookies at any time in your browser preferences and via Google Ads Settings — blocking them will not break any tool, only affect ad personalisation.
How to manage cookies:
- Chrome: Settings → Privacy and security → Cookies and other site data
- Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data
- Safari: Settings → Privacy → Manage Website Data
- Edge: Settings → Cookies and site permissions → Manage and delete cookies
5. How long cookies persist
Essential localStorage persists until you clear site data. Advertising cookies lifetimes are set by Google/partners (typically up to 13 months); you can delete them anytime in browser settings or via the opt-out links above.
