What is Barcode Generator?

Ten symbologies, chosen from a dropdown, with the constraints each one imposes surfaced immediately rather than after a wasted print run. Code 128 encodes the full ASCII range and is the right default for internal inventory labels. EAN-13, EAN-8, and UPC-A are retail formats with fixed digit counts, and an invalid value is flagged the moment you type it — including the check digit, which the encoder computes and verifies. ITF and ITF-14 are the shipping and box-marking standards, and they are the ones to be careful with: ITF encodes digits only, so letters will be rejected. Pharmacode and Codabar cover older instrument and library labelling. The human-readable value is printed under the bars, bar width and height are adjustable for your label stock, and you get both a 2× PNG for raster workflows and an SVG for print production.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why does my EAN-13 value get rejected?
EAN-13 takes 12 digits plus a check digit, or 13 digits with the check digit already included. Twelve or thirteen digits is the rule, and the check digit must validate — the encoder will not draw a bar code that would fail at the till.
Can I put letters in a shipping label barcode?
Not with ITF or ITF-14, which encode digits only. If a carrier requires ITF-14, the value has to be numeric — use Code 128 when you need alphanumeric content.
How should I size it for printing?
Match the module width to your print resolution and keep the quiet margin around the code. The 2× PNG export is there for raster workflows; for anything going to a commercial printer, the SVG scales to whatever size you need without resampling.
Is the barcode uploaded anywhere?
No. The symbology is encoded in the tab and the SVG is built in the browser, so no request is made.
